RCI is the oldest and largest vacation exchange company in the world. RCI has over 4,000 affiliated resorts in over 100 countries worldwide. RCI has over two million members and in 1996 confirmed over 1.5 million exchanges. The Windjammer has been affiliated with RCI since 1983.
OCCUPANCIES: Every unit in the RCI system is assigned a private and maximum occupancy, by RCI. The private occupancy determines the number of occupants that a unit will sleep with privacy. The maximum occupancy determines the maximum number of occupants that a unit will sleep.
SEASONS: Every resort in the RCI system is assigned seasonal demand periods by RCI. RCI has three seasons: RED greater demand, WHITE average demand and BLUE lesser demand. Windjammer seasons are RED: Red season is the 3rd week in March to 1st week in December and Christmas and New Years. WHITE: White season is 3rd week of February to 2nd week of March. BLUE: Blue season is 1st week of January to 2nd week of February and 2nd week of December to 3rd week of December. RCI seasons vary from resort to resort, please refer to a RCI directory for the appropriate seasons.
REGULAR EXCHANGE: RCI's exchange system is fully computerized and is based on the "Fair Exchange". First you pay your maintenance fees at the Windjammer and receive a confirmation for a specific one week vacation at the Windjammer. The next thing you do to complete an RCI exchange is to deposit your confirmed one week vacation with RCI. RCI will then owe you an exchange based on the occupancy and the season of the week you deposited. At the time you request an exchange you must pay the appropriate exchange fee. You may request an exchange of the same or lesser value.
If you deposit a unit with an occupancy of six, you should request an occupancy of six or less. If you deposit an occupancy of four, you should request an occupancy of four or less, you can always request a lower occupancy, you cannot request a higher occupancy.
If you deposit a week with a RED seasonal designation then you can request a RED, WHITE, or BLUE week. If you deposit a week with a WHITE seasonal designation then you can request a WHITE or BLUE week. If you deposit a week with a BLUE seasonal designation then you can request a BLUE week. You can always request a week with the same or lower designation, you cannot request a more valuable season.
The trading power of the week you want to exchange has several elements. The one element that you do control is when you deposit your week. RCI will accept deposits up to two years in advance. If you deposit your week two years in advance you will receive the highest trading power possible.
INSTANT EXCHANGE: An RCI instant exchange is reserved and confirmed from a maximum of 45 days in advance down to as little as two days in advance of the start of the vacation week being requested. With instant exchange RCI reserves the right to waive the occupancies and the seasonal designations. This means that only with instant exchange you can exchange up, subject to availability.
